The new Ford Ka featured in the latest James Bond movie

Posted: 15 Aug 2008 11:00 AM CDT

Ford Ka James Bond Quantum of Solace

The new Ford Ka isn’t yet out on the market and it already gets ready to become a movie star. Because the new small car from Ford will be featured in the latest James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. In the movie, the Ka is driven by Camille, 007’s ally, played by Olga Kurylenko, one of the most beautiful women out there, if you ask us. The 'Quantum of Solace' Ka is unique with metallic gold paint and an exclusive exterior graphics and interior trim combination and was created by Ford of Europe's Design team, in collaboration with the movie's Oscar award-winning production designer, Dennis Gassner. The Ka's cameo continues Ford of Europe's relationship with the James Bond films, following the debut appearance of the latest Ford Mondeo, in the 2006 'Casino Royale'.

"The new Ka is the perfect match for the character of Camille – adventurous, individual and thoroughly modern," says Ford of Europe's Chief Operating Officer, Stephen Odell. "We are delighted that the launch of the film coincides with the launch of such a significant new model for Ford of Europe."

No money for a Reventon? Get a Veno!

Posted: 15 Aug 2008 04:38 AM CDT

Cadillac SRX

The Lamborghini Reventon is exclusivity taken to the extreme, only 25 ever made, each with a price tag of €1 million, and has been sought after by a lot of car enthusiasts which have the spending power to buy it. Well polish supercar manufacturer Veno thought that there might be a market for all those who didn’t get to buy a Lambo, and came up with this replica after the italian model.

Sure, the company said it has taken the design from jet aircrafts, and that it represents the hard work of their design team (who probably just searched Google for images of the Reventon) and that the quality of the supercar will match and even overcome producers like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani or Koenigsegg. The engines available will be taken from Audi, their 4.2 litre V8, with three versions, capable of delivering 350, 450 and 700 HP, and later on, customers will be able to equip it with engined taken from the Corvette C6, including the one from the Z1, a 6.8 litre V8. Other tehnological innovations include carbon fiber used in most of the body parts and in the brake discs, a night vision camera capable of detecting pedestrians or onboard computer with access to wireless Internet. Plus, their green department has stated that the company is currently experimenting with an electric powered version, equipped with the newest generation of high performance batteries.

Although they said that about 50 cars will be made, I’m sure once that Lamborghini’s lawyers find out about this car, they’re going to have a field day. Until then, feast your eyes with their fruits of “hard labour”. One more photo after the jump.

Official photos of the 2010 Cadillac SRX

Posted: 15 Aug 2008 04:38 AM CDT

Cadillac SRX

The luxury crossover market is growing more and more, with examples like the BMW X6 or Mercedes GLK. And the profit which is to be gained has also attracted american producer Cadillac, which recently showed us the first official photos of its new model, the SRX. Although it will be launched some time next year, the car is set to start a tour of the grand motor shows, starting with the one in Paris, in October.

This new model does have a lot in common with the Provoq concept, showed at last year’s Detroit Motor Show, and the represents the evolution of the design line found in the CTS and CTS-V sedans. The level of craftsmanship and the power which will be available to the driver are, in Cadillac’s view, the strong points of the SRX, which will definetely recommend it in the luxury crossover and small SUV range. Although the american producer is keeping the tehnical specs under lock and key, rumours have started going around that an AWD tehnology will be employed, and that one of the engines powering this car will be the 3.6 litre V6. More details are set to come most probably after it’s debut in Paris. One more photo after the jump.

GM releases new Chevrolet Volt teaser photos

Chevrolet Volt Teaser

After a few days ago we got the chance to see a sneak peek, today GM released the first teaser photos of their Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid that will be available in 2010. The GM blog post also mentions that design was and is a very important part of the Volt development because the drag force can account for up to 20 percent of the energy consumed in an average vehicle.

From the photos we can get a pretty good idea of the Volt’s styling, with the rounded and flushed front fascia, tapered corners and closed grille. Like one of our readers pointed out, it reminds us a little of Saab design, but still, that doesn’t meanit doesn’t look good. Check out the other teaser photo after the jump.

Wow! The Audi R8 “Blackbird”

Posted: 14 Aug 2008 08:45 AM CDT

The only thing that crossed my mind after seeing this video was “Wow!”. This Audi R8, codenamed “Blackbird”, is definitely one of a kind. First of all, it looks great, with those black wheels but if you imagine this car only has looks, oh, you’re so wrong. Because it’s more stuffed with gadgets than the KITT: four GPS units, two radar detectors, police scanner, CB radio, kill switch for all rear lights, high-speed broadband Internet with Wi-Fi running on a tablet PC, power ports, takedown lights, remote-controlled exhaust bypass valve and a…liquid-cooled infrasonic wave pulse generator. But enough said, just enjoy the video!

First Porsche Panamera interior photos

Porsche Panamera Interior Spy

We’ve seen the new Porsche Panamera in dozens of spy photos, but only the exterior, so we didn’t have any clue on how the interior will be like. Well, now we’ve also got a glimpse on what the passengers will enjoy. And I really think Porsche did a great a job with the car’s interior, which looks great. Even though there are a little too much buttons for my taste, I really like the overall design, including the steering wheel from the facelifted 911. Like the guys over at WorldCarFans say, the navigation system’s display could prove to be a little too low and difficult to read, but I’m sure German engineers thought of that too.
