The new Audi A6 facelift revealed Posted: 12 Aug 2008 01:18 PM CDT Yesterday, the German company revealed the facelift for the new Audi A6. To be honest, I really liked the way the press release starts: “A winner always builds on his strengths: That's why Audi has again upgraded its luxury class A6 model”. Sounds pretty cool, huh? Anyways, the new A6 features new engines, new technologies that cut fuel consumption by about 15 percent, improved suspension, new high-tech assistance system that give the driver even greater control over the car and new-generation MMI control system. Exterior changes include restyled single-frame grill, bumpers, air vents and fog lights, optionally-available xenon plus LED daytime running lights and new LED talilights. Audi’s latest addition to A6’s engine range is a new 3.0 liter V6 TFSI engine that develops 290 hp (213 kW) and 420 Nm (309.78 lb-ft) of torque. Combined with the tiptronic gearbox and quattro drive train, the engine takes the new A6 from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.9 seconds and up to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), while achieving a fuel consumption of 9.5 liters per 100 kilometers (24.76 US mpg) on the EU cycle. The new Audi A6 facelift will be available in Germany in mid-October with pricing starting at 34,200 Euros for the A6 2.0 TFSI sedan. There’s no point in saying that the new Audi A6 will come with top of the line technologies and infotainment systems. You can read all that in the full press release. Posted: 12 Aug 2008 09:41 AM CDT For some reason we’re not aware of, the turkey on the video below is pretty pissed at that cop, who’s having a hard time getting out of his car. Not even the police siren can stop the angry turkey, all this to the amusement of the guys filming this. Anyways, it’s really funny to see that a cop that should fear no one is under attack by a…turkey. Enjoy!
Posted: 12 Aug 2008 09:30 AM CDT Recently, AutoBild made an interesting comparison test between the Porsche Cayenne GTS (manual transmission) and the new BMW X6 (automatic). Which one won? The title says it all. The BMW did a Nurburgring lap in 8.54,4 min, 7 seconds faster the Cayenne (9.01,9 min). Top speeds were 240,9 km/h (150 mph) for the X6 and 228,1 km/h (142 mph) for the Cayenne. Also, the X6 was 1 second faster than the Cayenne in the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration (5.7 seconds comparing to Porsche’s 6.7 seconds). If we also consider the pricings (€73,800 for the X6 and €78,034 for the Cayenne GTS) I think we have a clear winner, the BMW X6. Via BMWBlog
Posted: 12 Aug 2008 09:07 AM CDT The new Hyundai Tiburon is coming out in September. Those of you attending next year’s Frankfurt Motor Show will see it first. Apparently it will be inspired by the Velostar concept, at least from what we’ve seen in these spy shots, taken in May. It will be built on the i30 platform with front wheel drive. The body style seems good looking. Hyundai finally ditched the shapeless or extremely shaped styles of the past. The car has a shooting break form, so it should appeal to those who can’t afford the more expensive brands. The Coupe will go on sale soon after it is unveiled. No word on the prices yet, but there shouldn’t be any excesses there. Source: Channel 4 (Via Autoblog)
