This has been the week for upsets as you will soon read below. Most of our readers know the typical story. A car review comes in and BMW is always on top, and then there are the “also ran’s”. So what would you expect to see when the new Infiniti FX was paired up against the new BMW X6? If you thought more of the same, then you were dead wrong. How about Motor Trend and Automobile magazines BOTH selecting the FX over the X6? Has the status quo been broken? I don’t know about you but I bet the executives over at BMW are scratching their heads on this one.

Remember not too long ago when the number one vehicle in America was the F-150? Then gas started to rise, and it was the Camry. Well gas is still rising, and now it seems America performing an about face and scooping up the Honda Civic in ever increasing numbers. Actually, so many have been sold, that last month it was actually the number one selling vehicle in the US. I guess in retrospect $4.00 gas was all it takes to swing the consumer into an about face when it concerns car sales. But are they shifting too far the other direction?

The ultra hot Nissan GT-R has defiantly had the collective eye of the press as of late. Why not? World class performance and a reasonable price make it hard to beat. So the contest should be easy when it came time to compare the GT-R against the BMW M3 and the Porsche 911. Well not quite so. Agent00J couldn’t believe his eyes when he looked at the results and saw the M3 of all things perched in the number one spot. Now was Car and Driver on the payroll or did the simply see something the others have over looked.?

Standing out from the crowd is a big deal for those who are in the know. After all you just dropped a large chunk of change on a new ride, so it would be nice if someone else noticed, right? 001 brought you a set very unique conceptual BMW M3’s that would really let you stand out in the crowd if BMW made them available. 001 challenged you to take a look and decide if BMW should take a stance further outside the box, when it comes to colors. We couldn’t agree more.

How do you rate satisfaction? If you read the studies it seems overall satisfaction with a brand is difficult to pinpoint. After all if it was that easy, we would all drive brand “A” over brand “B”. So was it any surprise to find Strategic Vision’s latest study on consumer satisfaction would show BMW at the top? Probably not, however to find Lexus at fifth and Toyota as an overall average ranking might have been a bigger surprise. But the very next day AutoPacific released a similar report with Cadillac taking honors as the top brand. Is there any justice?

“Mine is better than yours”. Those words ring true on the playground and in the marketplace. 001 took the opportunity to let you shout those words for yourself, and give the reasoning behind them as well, when he asked what the best luxury sports car for summer was for under $60k. Thank goodness he limited the choice to sport cars, because if any of you dare to toss out the Hyundai Genesis, you might be surprised that the first examples are not quite up to par for the much heralded luxury car out of Korea. Preproduction jitters, or part of an overall much larger issue?

We haven’t had a Stud or Dud comparison in quite a while, so when news that BMW’s M1 Homage concept was going to be a production reality, 009 just couldn’t resist. Billed as a worthy competition to the Audi R8 and the Lexus LF-A, the M1 boasts a throw back design honoring the 1980’s M1 with just a touch of modern accents to keep it current. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but will you be blinded by the badge?

I would like to take the time out to wish newest team member, Agent00K a speedy recovery this week. It seems she had a bad week with a pretty serious accident. We all wish her well, and hope to see her up a running pretty soon. You never know with this girl. She might just try to show you a guy who is the Boss by fixing this car herself. If that is the case some of you will have to put out or put it up, because this girl is here to show you that they can indeed rule.
