As much as people would love to think that bigger is better, the fact remains that BMW is proving them wrong with the 1-Series. It seems BMW is carving quite a mark in the small premium car sector with this hot new ride. With this type of success the competition tends to stand up and take notice, and plan their own model. The first possible entry in to the market may just be Infiniti’s yet to be named baby G37. This stunning little car may just be able to challenge BMW as king of the hill when it debuts in the near future.

The Nissan GT-R has gone by many names, with Godzilla being the first to come to most peoples mind. But in a recent comparison test, Car and Driver coined a new term we hadn’t heard before, the 500HP Prelude. What was the reasoning behind such derogatory terminology? Perhaps Car and Driver has finally seen the GT-R for what it is? According to the comparison Nissan the Achilles heal may simply be the quality of the materials chosen in construction of the car itself. After all if you are going to pay $80k for a car, you really want it look the part don’t you. Some people never learn.

With all of the financial strife occurring in the nation at this time. One might assume that most will cling to what they know is sound and true. Such times often call for more of a conservative approach by most people. So what brand would you think the average person would flock to? Toyota the bastion of reliability and resale value? Well, not really. It seems in these tough times, the buying public at least has chosen Honda to hedge their bets. Sales are up for 2008 and if I were a betting man, I would say they will stay that way for the rest of the year. Now what did Toyota do to deserve this?

From time to time it seems the press sites gets blasted with a flood of news from a single maker. This week it was all about Audi. Normally Audi’s news is sprinkled through out the month, but this week was a notable exception. First out of the box was the release of several artist renditions of the new A7. This upscale coupe is meant to spar head on with the Mercedes CLS, a tough competitor if there ever was one. Next up were the first real life pictures of the new 2009 twin turbo S4. This is direct competition the upper line BMW 3 Series. If this wasn’t enough, two more news worthy items took center stage as Audi announced an A1 cabriolet that would spar with the Mini convertible, and finally were actual shots of the undisguised V10 R8, in front of Audi’s Headquarters! Wow that is a lot of news from a major player.
